ICE’s Bakkt digital asset platform has just released the first licensed Bitcoin options and Cash-settled Futures in the US.
According to the announcement dated December 9, Bakkt will use directly paid Bitcoin contracts as the foundation to build these add-on products.
COO Adam White said:
“By offering a direct paid monthly Bitcoin futures product, we want to set the norm to develop a variety of attachment products to meet the needs of our users.”
Just hours after its launch, Bakkt proudly claims to have recorded more than 1,000 cash-settled Bitcoin futures contracts traded on the ICE Singapore exchange:

Two new products include Monthly Bitcoin Option and Cash Settlement Futures.
The Cash Payment Futures product will be available on ICE Singapore Derivative Exchange, a Singapore licensed exchange. Contracts will be based on the expiration price of the monthly Bitcoin futures contracts and offer options to participants who cannot afford to trade live settlement contracts.
Before that, Bakkt CEO Kelly Loeffler received a seat in the US Senate. According to media reports, Ms. Loeffler replaced Sen. Johnny Isakson, who is planning to retire next year.
